Barbados Food, Wine and Rum Festival 2016 – join us for a true Barbados culinary holiday and experience the best of the islands local cuisine, wine, rum, entertainment and fun.

Itinerary Highlights

Flights to Barbados

Day 1 – Depart London Gatwick for Barbados. On arrival in Barbados, you are met by the Essence of the Caribbean rep and transferred to your host hotel.

Enjoy an evening at leisure exploring the hotel and taking in the first tastes of the island.

Bridgetown and Oistins

Day 2 – Your exploration of the island begins with a walking tour of the capital city of Bridgetown. Sites of interest include the Nidhei Israel Synagogue, originally built in 1654, and the Parliament Buildings. Then you will enjoy a picnic lunch on Browne’s Beach before going on to explore the Garrison site.

The evening’s event marks the opening of the 2015 Food & Wine and Rum Festival – Oistins Coastal Blend, where international chef Marcus Samuelson whips up a delicious evening snack you will be tempted to replicate at home.

Rum Distillery Tour & Dinner

Day 3 – Barbados’ rum heritage comes alive with tours of two of the island’s three main distilleries – Saint Nicholas Abbey and Foursquare Rum Factory and Heritage Park. Enjoy a rum tasting of a selection of the distilleries’ best, along with lunch at the historic Saint Nicholas Abbey.

Wrap-up the day with ‘Evening Reserve by Limegrove Lifestyle Center’, penthouse rooftop dining with views over the platinum west coast.   The featured aperifs and hors d’oeuvres by the Festival’s chef of the evening, are sure to capture the taste buds.

Dinner & Wine Pairing

Day 4 – ‘Taste the Spirit of Polo’ with an afternoon at the Holder’s Polo field which is home to the Barbados Polo Club. Enjoy the exhibition match while savouring the creations of top local chefs Dane Saddler, Michael Hinds, Scott Ames and Lauren Evelyn. Locally manufactured cheeses including the famous ‘rum-soaked cheddar cheese’ are also part of the afternoon’s treat.

In the evening, it’s the ‘Gourmet Safari’. Follow your favourite chef for an evening of opulent dining and wine pairing at one of four leading local hotels* – Cobbler’s Cove, The Crane, Fairmont Royal Pavilion and The Cliff Beach House.

Feast in the Sun

Day 5 – Today, the festival climaxes long the shores of Needham Point Beach with live food demonstrations by Chef Cosentino and all day music. It’s a true Caribbean ‘beach-bash’ celebration.
