Atlantis Hotel. Located in the quaint fishing village of Tent Bay on the rugged east coast of Barbados, The Atlantis Hotel is family-owned and beach-chic. It is an elegant, historic property, dating back to the 1800s and the first hotel on the east coast of Barbados. Having recently been immaculately restored by its owners, the hotel now offers 10 gorgeous oversized rooms which overlook the ocean’s rolling surf.
Often described as ‘wild, uncomplicated and romantic’, The Atlantis Hotel offers an authentic and intimate charm, with its east coast location giving easy access for nature walks along the old railway track, hikes through the clay hills and exploring the nearby botanical gardens. Set on the beautiful Atlantic coast, the breezes are constant, but cooling and delightful. The owners, Andrew and Patricia Warden, have decorated the property with an unpretentious luxury – oversized bedrooms, wooden shutters and a cool décor of wood and splashes of coloured fabrics have all been used to create a calm, chic and laid-back Caribbean atmosphere.
The Atlantis Hotel is a bit off the beaten track – ideal for those yearning for the peace and calm of the Caribbean. There’s not much of a beach and the sea is not advised for swimming. But the hotel is just the setting which couples and small groups need to connect with each other away from the crowds.
